Ramsey County library system is made of 7 branches. A seven-member Library Board appointed by Ramsey County Board of Commissioners governs the library system. The Library's annual budget is around $7.8 million with the majority of funding coming from suburban Ramsey County property tax revenue. With 105 full-time employees working at the Library, Ramsey County library system serves 1.6 million people annually. Customers are now also making hundreds of thousands of remote electronic connections to the library catalog, web site, and databases.

Located in the heart of a retail center, the Maplewood Library is a convenient stop for shoppers and home to the Friends of the Library's Used Book Store. The largest of the seven libraries, more than one million items are circulated annually.
